It is like an engraved invitation to burglars.The United States Postal Service will gladly hold your mail for up to 30 days. Visit your local office and tell them you’d like a vacation hold. They may request your ID. Then, they will want to know the following:
- Date to begin holding
- Date to resume delivery
- Whether you will pick up the held mail or have it delivered
You can also provide this information by filling out a form on the USPS website.
Finally, get the local phone number for your USPS office. You can get it if you visit in person. It’s also available on the internet, but not from USPS. Use it to call the office if anything changes.
Tip: Don’t forget to stop your newspaper too.
